In this section, our assignments include agricultural extension education, assistance in agricultural management, improvement of rural living, and agricultural information. We are also in charge of the single service reception for all the people.

We have held many training courses for staff in charge of agricultural extension, cored farmers and aboriginals, including productive techniques, agricultural product processing, agriculture related regulations, and the application of information system of agricultural product-cum-marketing groups. In addition to this, we also assist in extension and education of 4-H club activities in Hualien and Yilan Counties .

Assisting organizational operation and activities of agricultural product-cum-marketing groups

Regarding to assisting agricultural management, we have assisted total 612 agricultural product-cum-marketing groups in Hualien and Yilan Counties , and strengthen their organizational operation and activities. Consultants specialized in agricultural management from Agricultural Council are invited to assist potential organizations of production and marketing in this district. We also have assisted the set up of agricultural strategy coalition including Wentan pomelo, nest fern, floriculture and leisure agriculture.

In the task of improving rural living, we have energetically hold training classes for local home economics staff of extension. They are in charge of instructing village diet and hygiene improvement, and beautification of village environment. In addition, the development of leisure and recreation agriculture is carried out at the same time. We assist village women to operate a business, using a brand “country Mami” that sells local food and handcraft for better income. Furthermore, we also actively develop recipes and print out advertising booklets, and hold exhibition of agricultural products to advertise for local agricultural products. We now promote Loshan village to be the first organic agricultural village, which combines production, ecosystem, life, and leisure and recreation, giving the village a new look.

In terms of agricultural information, we have published “Annual Report of Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station”, “Research Report of Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station”, “Agriculture Extension Bulletin of Hualien DARES”, “Hualien Agriculture Monthly”, “Hualien District Agricultural Technique Pamphlet”, and “Special Proceedings”, to promote agricultural new information. Besides, we have assisted agricultural product-cum-marketing groups to establish its website, and “Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station Worldwide Web ( www.hdais.gov.tw ), providing services to all people, and advertising our missions.
